A lot can happen in a year!

The time is 8:31 pm in Nairobi as I write this. Playing in the background is Sharon Mundia’s last vlog on her YouTube Channel. The vlog was published a year ago when she was going to watch BeyoncĂ©’s concert. And watching this has reminded me how a lot can change in a year. Also, does Sharon know she has five minutes ?... fives minutes. ( This is a TikTok reference, it is okay if you do not get it.) I have missed her on that red app.

A lot can happen in a year.

Here are seven things that I have changed my mind on, or just realized over the past few months. Disclaimer, as human beings are evolving creatures, I might change my mind on them in the coming days, weeks, months or even years.

  1. Githeri does not slurp as is used. Githeri is not an elite meal anymore, to me at least.
  2. Running is healing. Both figuratively and literally. Do you have a cold or flu? Run. Are you in a funk or just a low mood? Run.
  3.  Non-fiction books are not that bad. I was in an era of reading fiction for the longest period, which came about when I realized that non-fiction books contributed a lot to my reading slump. Today, I admit that I may need a lil' break from the seriousness of non-fiction books, but now I am back. Happy to announce I am not a balanced babe who enjoys and appreciates what non-fiction and fiction books bring to the table. Balance babbyy.
  4. Building & Creating - the secret to a fulfilling life. As a person who believes in God, who is a creator, he gave us life and mandated us to be co-creators. And what a joy it is to be creators & builders as co-creators,
  5. Life is spiritual, not just physical. This needs a whole new page. I feel there is a lot to say, and needs to be articulated concisely so as not to be misunderstood.  I  promise to write about this one day, Inshallah!
  6. The consumerism in this city (Nairobi), country (Kenya), and the world is crazy. Another topic that needs a blog on its own.
  7. Like running, music is healing. Shout out to Billy Black and Cleo Sol for healing the world and me through their music. What a talent! Please check them out. They are healing. Tell me what I think of them if you do :)

I hope you are well and keeping safe. Take care.

Yours,

Stacy.
